White Rock Elopement . Brooklyn + Troy
If there is one thing I feel that the past two years of covid has allowed people to realize is freedom. Freedom from tradition, freedom from the way it has always been done, this is the freedom I speak to here. When I got into weddings, it was pretty ridged what a wedding day looked like. It was straightforward, and wedding days were filled with traditions and do’s and don’ts. Weddings were ever-shifting. I believe that in 2022 everyone realized that what was important was that they said: “ I do.” It was no longer a matter of what someone else had done or what your parents had done, but rather how do we get to “I do” in a year where very little was allowed. From that came a more loose look at what an elopement was. It was no longer just a courtroom ceremony. It was far more intimate, a closer, more intentional guest list. Your family usually surrounds it.
When Brooklyn originally called me, she was so excited to tell me about her vision for her and Troy’s wedding day. It was something I was a story I was so eager to tell the more I heard about it. She mentioned how they wanted to get married at these vast, gorgeous, sweeping views of the Ozark Mountains here in Arkansas. She wanted to have something so natural, so beautiful, something that just made her and Troy feel at home. They did not want to leave out their family and friends, though. They just knew a traditional ceremony wasn’t their path. Brooklyn went on to tell me that this April 16th ceremony was going to be something for her and Troy and just their family. Their friends would have a day of celebration two months later. It is a reception that allows them to enjoy a more traditional look on a wedding day.
I am so excited to share the first of two days for Brooklyn and Troy. This day is their ceremony; this is the beautiful Ozark Mountain overlook she had dreamed her wedding day to be. Their family, her golden retriever, and the two set off to make this ceremony day something extraordinary.
